Foi anunciada numa coletiva de imprensa esta manhã a seleção oficial do Festival de Toronto 2016. Repleto de títulos aguardados, o evento tornou-se uma espécie de primeira parada para o Oscar nos últimos anos e sua principal característica é que o melhor filme da mostra principal é escolhido por voto popular - ano passado o vencedor foi O Quarto de Jack e o vice Spotlight.
A programação é a mistura do Festival de Veneza, que começa mês que vem (La La Land, Nocturnal Animals, Arrival), com Cannes (Paterson, The Handmaiden, Loving, Toni Erdmann, American Honey, Elle, The Salesman) e filmes que já estão em capanha forte para o Academy Awards (The Birth of a Nation, Lion).
